How to Match up Colors (Basics)

So today we’re going to talk about how to properly combine colors in an outfit.

So when you divide them roughly, there are about 3 different categories for clothing coordination, composed of,

Top half
 A

Bottom half
 B

Shoes  C

So which colors you arrange in these categories can really affect the impression you have with your clothing

So, which colors should I wear?

Since this is a valuable opportunity #, I’m going to use Chino pants, which many people own, as an standard.

This color is very earthy, so it generally gives off an unrefined appearance. So, when your clothes have this overall impression or if you collect a lot of colors like this, it kind of gives off a worksman or factory work type of look. As such, I can’t really recommend it.

On the other hand, if there’s a difference in color between the chino pants and the top, it adds on a feeling of moderation and wipes away this kind of unrefined look.

How does it look? It looks like the colors work well with each other, and utilize each other.

So my point here is,

To make subdued colors coordinate well, match them with non-subdued colors.

Based on whether or not you do that, you can expect that the colors will reciprocally bring out the best in each other. It’s convenient for you to remember this when you’re coordinating because it can really be of some help from now on.

That’s all for now, next time we’ll be digging more into colors too.
